"Every composition, every song I’ve written carries a piece of my truth — moments I’ve lived, feelings I’ve buried, stories I’ve never told. But in those melodies and lyrics, you might hear echoes of your own life. If these songs touch your heart, or even shift something deep in your soul, then every note was worth it."
With all my heart — Yves Stilmant.
Yves Stilmant Biography
Yves Stilmant is a Belgian-born cinematic composer whose work is rooted in the ancient Belgae of Gaul--a continental Celtic heritage that predates and differs from the more widely recognized traditions of Ireland and Scotland. Inspired by ancestral Europe, his music blends orchestral storytelling with historical and mythological depth, creating immersive sound worlds designed for film, narrative media, and large-scale conceptual projects.
A member of The Recording Academy (GRAMMYs) and connected to the Film Fest Gent / World Soundtrack Awards ecosystem, Yves has received international recognition with top honors at the Mozart, Bach, Fenix Awards, Classical Stars, Beethoven, Ravel and Fauré International Music Competitions. His compositions explore identity, legacy, and ancient civilizations through a modern cinematic lens.
His composition The Chief's Legacy was awarded "Best Soundtrack" at the World Film Festival in Cannes (2026), Guardians of Arduenna is also nominated at the International Sounds Film Music Festival in Croatia (2026) for best soundtrack and trailer music, further establishing his presence within the international film music landscape.
Now based in California, Yves Stilmant has built a prolific catalog of cinematic and orchestral works spanning decades. His music draws inspiration from the great traditions of film scoring while maintaining a deeply personal and historically grounded voice. From intimate, lyrical passages to powerful, large-scale symphonic movements, his compositions are driven by emotion, narrative, and a strong sense of place.
Deeply connected to his Belgae heritage, Stilmant's work focuses on reviving the memory and spirit of ancient continental European cultures. Through projects such as Arduenna: The First Roots, Daughters of Arduenna, Guardians of Arduenna, Gallia Belgica, Spiritus Belgarum, Before the Crown, Hearth of the Belgae, and I Am Belgae, he brings to life a lesser-known branch of the Celtic world with authenticity, restraint, and cinematic scope.
His award-winning composition Titan's Awakening stands as a defining example of his symphonic voice--combining emotional intensity, thematic clarity, and cinematic impact.
Founder of Lumière SoundWorks / Audio Alchemy Productions and Groove Tattoo Publishing, Yves oversees a catalog of more than 800 registered original works. He is a member of ASCAP, AES, AIMP, SCL, and ASMAC.
Recognized for his cinematic vision and storytelling through music, Yves continues to develop a body of work dedicated to narrative composition and the preservation of cultural memory through sound.
