Hi, my name is Paul Clarke (Paul Daren) and I'm an English musician living in Germany. I enjoy writing and composing music at home, trying to get down any music ideas I have at the time regardless of genre.

ABBEY ROAD STUDIOS

A couple of weeks ago, I was very fortunate to be invited to play and record in the famous "Studio 2" at Abbey Road Studios in London.

On their Steinway and Sons Grand Piano, I recorded "November Rain", "April Skies" , "Runaway", "Can't Get Over You" and finally my personal tribute to my favourite and best band EVER-The Beatles-"Thanks Again"

It was a day I shall never forget.

Also played 'Lady Madonna" on the famous "Mrs.Mills" piano where it was originally recorded on by Paul!

Many thanks to all who made this dream come true!

Hi Paul, just listened to your "Heart (Solo) then "Heart" with Strings in background.
Both good but I like the strings which makes it suitable music for a pensive situation in a Film or tv Program!
Your play is Class! Love it! Five stars easily given!
Warmly, jim

Hi Paul Daren,
I recently listened to your track "Reflection" and spent some time listening. The production and overall feelings really stood out to me, it has a clear direction and the melody feels more than a casual release. The arrangement and sound choice really gave it a strong, placement ready, vibe.
Just wanted to reach out and say you're building something solid here. Always good to see intentional work on Broadjam.
If i may ask. Are you currently focusing more on sync opportunities, streaming growth, or just creating freely at the moment?

Hi Patrick Bachana,

It was so nice of you to take time out and listen to "Reflections" and I'm so glad that you like it.

This piece, along with others, I wrote during Covid time as it was a very productive and inspiring time for me, in spite of all the chaos around. I also, through Broadjam, managed to send these songs off for sync opportunities and was successful in the fact that they were accepted but unfortunately, haven't as yet been used.

I sometimes just upload my songs to Facebook etc. but never gets that much attention at all and I haven't used Broadjam as much these past few months. I am currently composing for a local theatre group here and also trying to promote my children's book "The Mobile Heist."

Many thanks again and best wishes,

Paul Daren Clarke

Hi Paul,
I really appreciate you sharing that background, and it actually says quite a lot about where you are, creatively.
The fact that your tracks were accepted for sync opportunities already tells me the quality and writing are there. A lot of music never even gets past that stage, so that's a good sign.
What often happens though is that many artists get their music accepted into libraries or submissions, but the catalog itself isn't always structured in a way that makes it easy for supervisors or editors to quickly find and use the right track when they need it.

Out of curiosity! roughly, how large is the catalog you've built so far? And are most of the tracks instrumental pieces like "Reflections," or do you also have vocal songs in the mix?

Also, composing for a theatre group sounds interesting. Is that mostly instrumental scoring work?

Hi Patrick,
Thanks so much again for showing interest in what I do. I have around 15 pieces of music in the style of " Reflections" and they are all instrumental written mainly for piano. To put them to good use I use them for my pupils here as they seem to like playing them, also.
The theatre pieces I compose and write them for the piano so it's easy to perform live and they include vocals as it is a mini musical, so to speak. It's an adaptation of Charles Dickens' "Nicolas Nickleby" but with a twist (punn not meant). It's going ok and it's to be performed in January 27! Many thanks again , Patrick and best wishes to you
Paul

Hi Paul,
That actually sounds like a really nice body of work you're building. Piano driven instrumentals like that tend to carry a lot of emotion, which is often what directors and editors look for when they need something subtle but expressive for scenes.
Fifteen pieces is also a good starting catalog, especially when the style is consistent like the "Reflections" type material you mentioned.
And the theatre project sounds fascinating as well; adapting Nicholas Nickleby with your own twist is quite an undertaking. Writing for live performance usually develops a strong sense of musical storytelling, which is something that translates very well into visual media.

Out of curiosity, have you ever had anyone look at your catalog from a sync placement perspective, just to see how the pieces might be positioned or presented for film or TV opportunities?
If you're open minded to it, feel free to drop me a note at patrickumeshsocial@gmail.com it's sometimes easier to chat there than through Broadjam messages. I'm always happy to continue the conversation.

Best Wishes,
Patrick

"The Journey Home" created a visual of sitting at a train window watching the scenery evolve!
"Raindrops" sounds like Raindrops!
And "In Dreams" I detect "Greensleeves"!
An extremely Classy Collection!
Five stars honestly earned for them!

Your piano play is quite similar to Jeana Pothoff here in Broadjam!
I recommend you hear her music on here which induces images; same as yours!
