Story Behind The Song
My husband, Ross, and I were inspired to write this patriotic song in honor of all the wounded soldiers who returned home after the Iraq War and the horror of 9/11. It touches every family who sent their loved ones to away to protect us.

Verse I
It's good to be back home
After leaving for a year.
At the gate my loving new bride
Her face all dewy streaked with tears.
The arms that held me tightly
On the day I left her side,
Hold the babe she carried bravely,
That is my newborn joy and pride.
II
A Bitter Sweet reunion,
For it's faith that called to me.
To protect the ones I cherish
From a world wakened by deceit.
To spare, my love and country
Who I hold in my heart dear
It's so good to be back home again
After a long and lonely year
Chorus
Though I walk unsteady
Love has made me strong
Guiding me to come home safely
I was gone so long.
Now I have a family
God has given me.
They are all I wish to dream of
When I fall asleep
Oh it's good to be back home
After leaving for a year
In the arms that wished I could stay
Knew that I had to go way.
Release
To fight for what we stand for
Far beyond the sea
I went off and left my darling
She to pray for me.
It's good to be back home
After leaving for a year
In the arms opened to greet me
We danced The Waltz So Bitter Sweet.
