Story Behind The Song
This song of release came to me in a flash as I was walking to the store in Oberlin, OH. When I got home an hour later to write it down, I found a message on my answering machine that my friend Donald "Donald" Chamberlin had died of cancer. I was startled at how appropriate the song was for his situation. It is dedicated to him.

																Lyrics

									Traffic
I used to get by on the freeway
But now I just drive straight through town
There's too many out on the freeway
The cover is bringing me down
CHORUS
Oh, can't you see me riding with a sign saying I don't know
Oh, there's a tide going my way and a cool wind blowing down in Santa Mo
You don't have to look where you're going
'Cause nobody knows who you are
I don't have to look where I'm going
There's someone else driving my car
and if I have to
Think about it, I don't want to
'Cause nobody knows anyway
What good is it out on the freeway
Where else am I going today?
CHORUS
FREEWAY CANON
Life on the freeway's not for me
 Somebody is comin' after me
I could just sit here all day long
 Singing my freeway song
